Dog Day Out Program
Are you interested in taking a shelter dog out for the day?
The Harnett County Animal Shelter is now offering a program that allows you to do just that!
The shelter environment can be stressful for dogs - especially our longer residents and dogs used to a quiet home life. The Dog Day Out Program allows you to sign a dog out for the day (or just a couple hours), so the dog can have some time to decompress. You can bring them to the park, on a hike, to get a pup cup, or just let them relax in your home.
Feel free to take photos or videos of the dog on their day out! We would love to share what our furry friends have been up to!
A couple rules:
- no dog parks
- do not let them interact with any animals unfamiliar to them (this includes our dogs/cats within your home)
- keep the dog secure at all times
You can fill out this form if you are interested in taking a dog out for the day. Please note that this is an interest only form and does not guarantee you a specific dog on a specific date. If you wish to take a dog out for the day, you must bring a valid photo ID and sign a temporary foster contract and waiver.
You can contact the shelter supervisor, reparker@harnett.org / (910) 893–0808, or the shelter admin, cwright@harnett.org / (910) 893-0801 with any questions.
