Harnett County Announces Application Process for Low Income Energy Assistance Program

Harnett County Department of Social Services would like to announce the application process for this year’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP).
Applications for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program will be accepted beginning December 1, 2023 for the priority group and will continue through March 31, 2024 or until the LIEAP funds are exhausted. Eligible households will not receive the LIEAP check, as the payments will be made directly to the heating provider such as your Electric, Gas, or Fuel Oil Company.
Applications for LIEAP that begin December 1, 2023 will be for households in the priority group of Age 60 and above, and disabled persons receiving services from the Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS). All other households may apply beginning January 1, 2024 through March 31, 2024 or until LIEAP funds are exhausted. The agency is closed January 1, 2024 for the New Year Holiday.
Some households who received a LIEAP payment in 2022-2023 may not need to apply and are eligible to receive an automatic payment. If you are part of this population you will receive an approval notice between December 22, 2023, and January 4, 2024.
