Color Our World with Harnett County Public Library System’s Summer Reading Program!

Harnett County Public Library System invites you to Color Your World this summer during the 2025 Summer Reading Program, running from June 9 to July 25, 2025!
The library system is offering a wide variety of FREE events for all ages, including live performances, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math (STEAM) activities, story times, crafts, escape rooms, concerts, and more. Each library location will host spectacular performances and programs throughout the summer, including:
Grow on the Go: Play, learn, and grow with Harnett County Partnership for Children’s mobile play program.
Drum for Change: Interactive rhythm workshops that inspire creativity for all ages.
Kid Lab: A hands-on learning lab where kids (and their grownups) can tinker, make art, and explore through creative play.
Imagine Circus featuring Tain the Juggler: A one-man comedic circus show that dazzles audiences.
Hawk Manor Falconry: Meet live birds of prey and learn about their survival in the wild.
Families can look forward to STEAM labs, colorful art workshops, escape rooms, movie nights, and unique teen and adult programs like paint pouring, craft nights, gardening workshops, and book clubs.
You are invited to join the Summer Reading Challenge and earn prizes just for reading!
Pick up a reading log at any library branch, track your minutes, and claim prizes along the way.
Read 700 minutes this summer to complete the challenge and be entered to win one of our awesome grand prizes:
- Early Literacy (ages 0–5): Splash Pad
- School Age (ages 6–12): 3D Pen
- Teens (ages 13–18): Beats Solo3 Headphones
- Adults (ages 18+): Kindle Paperwhite
Summer festivities officially kick off on Saturday, June 7 at 10 a.m. at the Main Library in Lillington with a Summer Reading Kick-Off Party featuring inflatables, carnival games, Pelican’s Snowballs, face painting, and more!
The fun continues all summer long with programs happening at library branches throughout the County.
