Harnett County Department of Social Services Assisting Residents with Resources and Information Amid SNAP Benefit Pause
Thursday, October 30, 2025
Starting November 1, 2025, the State of North Carolina will not be able to add November SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits onto Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has paused all November SNAP benefits until further notice due to the federal government shutdown.
Please note:
- October benefits are not affected.
- If you still have money on your EBT card, you can continue to use it as usual at stores that accept SNAP in North Carolina. You do not have to use all your funding before November; unspent benefits will remain available until they are used.
Although November benefits are paused, it is important to keep meeting all requirements, including completing your recertification on time. The Harnett County Department of Social Services offices remain open for business and will continue processing new applications, recertifications, and change reports.
Residents can check their balance on the ebtEDGE app, call 1-888-622-7328, or visit ebtEDGE.com.
